CATA is the premiere information technology association in eastern New York and western New England.  Our purpose is to share information on the IT and telecom industries.  We offer members the opportunity to network with peers and to further their understanding of products and services.  We have grown to include over 150 user, vendor, consultant and student members since our founding in 1988 by a small group of IT professionals.  CATA currently counts some of the premiere technology companies as members, as well as an assortment of leading corporations, state agencies and universities in the capital region.

Our monthly meetings are held from September through June. They offer members the opportunity to meet and interact with industry colleagues.  During these meetings we learn about technology, exchange ideas, meet prospective vendors or customers, and build new business relationships.

Networking and socializing is an important aspect of our industry.  Our meetings are held in a variety of formats to offer different opportunities for networking with your peers.  Some meetings are during the day, while some are after hours in a “mixer” format.  Our December meeting is set aside for a holiday dinner party, and June is reserved for the annual golf tournament.

Membership Levels

User Member

The CATA User Membership is available to those individuals involved in the procurement, recommendation and/or use of Technology hardware, software and/or services.  Those individuals approved for CATA User Membership are entitled to attend regularly scheduled meetings at no charge.  Special events such as the annual Holiday Party and Golf Outing may require the User Member to pay a fee.

Vendor Membership Levels

The Capital Area Technology Association is supported by Vendors involved in the sale, distribution and/or recommendation of Technology related products or services.  There are multiple membership levels available.  CATA and the CATA User Community appreciates your support.

- Basic Vendor -

Available to those persons who are actively employed in the sales and promotion of IT and telecom-related products and services. The vendor also gets a representation on the Vendors page and banner ads on the CATA site. Entitles participant to attend all meetings at reduced cost. Basic members pay an annual fee of $125 and an additional $20 per meeting they attend. There is an additional charge to attend special events, such as the Holiday Party and the Golf Outing.

- Standard Vendor -

Available to those persons who are actively employed in the sales and promotion of IT and telecom-related products and services. The vendor also gets a representation on the Vendors page and banner ads on the CATA site. Entitles participant to attend all meetings at reduced cost and prepays fore the Annual Golf Outing in June. Standard members pay an annual fee of $235 and an additional $20 per meeting they attend. There is an additional charge to attend the Holiday Party.

- Premium Vendor -

Available to those persons who are actively employed in the sales and promotion of IT and telecom-related products and services. All meetings and events are prepaid for the year, including the annual Holiday Party and Golf Outing. The vendor also gets a representation on the Vendors page and banner ads on the CATA site.

Our 2009-10 fiscal year has begun. Vendors are kindly reminded that dues for this year are now due. Check the Vendor Member page to make sure your organization is listed as a CATA supporter.
