Securing Workloads in a Public Cloud

  • Wolferts Roost Country Club 120 Van Rensselaer Blvd Albany, New York, 12204 United States (map)

As organizations continue to modernize applications and services in public cloud environments, securing workloads has become a critical component of successful cloud adoption. This session explores practical approaches for securing cloud-native and hybrid workloads across leading hyperscaler platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.

Drawing on real-world experience from large-scale higher education and enterprise cloud environments, presenters will discuss security architecture considerations, governance frameworks, identity and access management, workload visibility, application and API protection, compliance, and Zero Trust principles. Attendees will gain insight into common cloud security challenges, lessons learned during migration and modernization initiatives, and strategies for maintaining consistent security controls across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments.

The session will also examine evolving procurement approaches, including cloud marketplaces that enable organizations to acquire and deploy third-party software directly within cloud environments while aligning purchases with broader cloud investment and consumption commitments.
